FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are your fees expensive?

We calculate an appropriate fee for each engagement and each client based on the scope of work, with care taken to keep the burden as low as possible. As a result, most clients tell us the service is good value for the outcome delivered.

The initial visit and interview (up to two visits) are complimentary. You decide after reviewing the job definition and the quotation.

How is this different from temporary staffing?

Staffing sends you a person. GOS takes on the work itself. Once the job is defined and reviews are scheduled, detailed day-to-day supervision is not required.

Because GOS experts are not your employees, we can cover entry-level, managerial and executive-level work at the same time, without concern for internal hierarchy.

How is this different from a consulting firm?

We do not simply propose a solution. We work through how the decision should be made and how it should be executed, together with management, and then carry out the work. We do not leave a report behind and walk away.

How is this different from a tax accounting firm?

GOS includes professionals who have run private companies for many years alongside accounting and finance specialists. Beyond bookkeeping and monthly closing, we propose how the numbers translate into near-term forecasts and what management decisions follow, then execute the work resulting from those decisions.

Tax filing itself is handled by our partner tax accountants.

What are the benefits of outsourcing to GOS?

You resolve management issues that are hard to solve alone — more easily, faster, and with less cost and effort. In particular:

  • We build, from inside your company, the operational foundation needed to keep going
  • You gain the practical know-how of stable management without paying for it through failure
  • Operations become more efficient, so the owner can concentrate on running the business
Will this increase our daily workload?

The opposite. Efficiency improves, so the burden generally decreases. The scale of the effect depends on the situation, but we stay alongside you until the measures introduced are genuinely in use. To date, close to nine in ten clients have told us the engagement was the right decision.

Are there cases you decline?

Rarely. We decline or discontinue only where the information provided turns out to differ from the facts, where conduct is contrary to good faith, or where the situation cannot be addressed through consultancy.

What kinds of companies use GOS?

Mainly Japanese companies seeking long-term stability (manufacturing, services, retail) and foreign-owned companies entering or operating in the Japanese market. Conversations often start with recovering performance, strengthening the management structure, resolving bank financing issues, or improving employee motivation.

How long does an engagement last?

It depends on the scope and the situation. We handle projects of a few weeks through to continuous engagements lasting several years. Most commonly, we resolve the immediate issue and then continue as an ongoing operational partner.

How do you divide work with tax accountants and lawyers?

Each profession has its own exclusive legal remit. We introduce a tax accountant for tax filings, a labour and social security attorney for labour matters, a lawyer for restructuring and succession, and an administrative scrivener for work permits and visa status — so you do not need to find them yourself.

Once management has received their advice and reached a decision, GOS executes the resulting work.
